Pennsbury Students Earn Awards at Art Show

Three Pennsbury students were recognized at Arcadia University's Touch the Future art show.

Three Pennsbury students were among the young artists from 27 different Bucks and Montgomery county high schools to earn awards from Arcadia University's 26th annual Touch the Future art show. Victoria Schenck earned second place in Best of Show, Rebecca Rathgeb won best of category in 3D Mixed Media and Kayli Hannah earned the Juror's Prize for her work. Three best of show winners were chosen along with 14 category winners, three PSEA purchase prize winners, and a juror’s prize winner from the approximately 300 pieces of artwork submitted by teachers throughout Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Pennsbury Holds Career Fair on Monday

The Pennsbury High School career fair will be Monday night.

Pennsbury students, families, and community residents are welcome to attend the 17th annual Pennsbury High School Career Fair scheduled for Monday, February 25th. The event will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 705 Hood Boulevard in Fairless Hills. Guest exhibitors will showcase a full range of careers - from the arts to space science. Students K-12 are encouraged to explore a total of 130 professional exhibits and speak with nearly 300 company representatives to learn more about each field and the educational requirements necessary for success. Business, Computer, and IT Curriculum Coordinator, Frank Mayo, is organizing this year's fair with the help of many volunteers. Admission is free.

State Rep. Honors Pennsbury Girls’ Cross Country

State Rep. Steve Santarsiero honored the Pennsbury High School Cross Country team during a victim to Harrisburg.

While Levittown dealt with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the Pennsbury Cross Country team was able to rally together and win their their third-straight PIAA Class AAA title. State Rep. Steve Santarsiero presented the team with a citation from state government during the girls' visit to Harrisburg on Tuesday. “These girls, for three years now, have provided inspiration for their community and fellow runners and friends,” Santarsiero said in a statement. “I’m proud they call Bucks County home.”

Standout Pennsbury Athletes Sign with Colleges

Three Pennsbury High School seniors recently signed their college paperwork.

Three standout Pennsbury High School athletes signed agreements to play for colleges during a ceremony aired on the school’s TV network. Cross Country player Sara Sargent was first to sign papers for University of Virginia during the morning event attended by her parents, school officials and media. The senior recounted she was not all that interested in going to University of Virginia at first. She said on her initial campus tour the school did not impress her. “I don’t know what I was thinking,” Sargent said with a giggle. “Now, I can’t see myself going anywhere else.” Soccer player Lexi Brown made her intent to play at West Chester University official surrounded by her family. Levittown Students in Boston Tour Bus Crash Return Home

Students from around Lower Bucks County were in a violent charter bus accident as they headed home over the weekend. A Neshaminy student is in serious condition.

Margaret Ireland waited at the snowswept corner of Radcliffe Street and Mill Street in Bristol Borough with about 10 other parents and relatives of the teenage victims of Saturday’s charter bus crash in Boston. “I’m just relieved they’re back,” the mother said. “I’ve been sleepless since I found out.” The group waited across the street from the office of the Destined for a Dream Foundation. The organization sponsored the bus trip to New England. Shortly after midnight, a large yellow charter bus arrived and roughly 10 high school-aged students and some adults stepped off the bus and quickly rushed into the nonprofit’s office, where they reunited with family and then left to return home. Levittown Students Involved in Boston Overpass Crash

Initial reports indicate a bus headed from Harvard University to Bristol hit an overpass in Boston, Mass. Local high school students were on the bus, media reports indicate.

Sunday, 12:30 p.m.: Police in Massachusetts have identified the driver as 66-year-old Philadelphia resident Samuel J. Jackson. Authorities have not yet released updated information on the conditions of the victims. Sunday, 2:19 a.m.: A tour bus chartered by a Bristol Borough organization struck an overpass in Boston, Mass. Saturday evening. Forty-two students and chaperones were on board the bus when it struck the overpass at 7:34 p.m., according to the Boston Fire Department. The Boston EMS agency reports that 30 people suffered minor injuries. Three were seriously hurt and one person is suffering from life-threatening injuries. Man Assaulted in Pennsbury HS Parking Lot

Falls Township Police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred in the Pennsbury High School parking lot.

A 20-year-old man was struck in the face with some type of object in the parking lot of Pennsbury High School Friday, Jan. 18 at about 8:53 p.m. According to the Falls Township Police Department, the actor, a black male in his 20s, was last seen fleeing in a small red vehicle on New Falls Road toward Tyburn Road. The assault caused a large laceration to the victim's head. He was transported to St. Mary's trauma center. His condition is unknown at this time. The preceding information was provided by the Falls Township Police Department.

'No Credible Threat Was Established For Pennsbury High School'

The Pennsbury School District has released a statement on rumors of violence.

After rumors of violence against Neshaminy High School and Council Rock South High School, the Pennsbury School District released the following statement about the threats: Several of our area high schools are the targets of rumors pertaining to school violence today. Much of this is theorized by authorities to be fueled by unrelated events, such as the Sandy Hook tragedy and the 12-21-12 end-of-the-world rumor. Pennsbury Seniors Host Dinner for Senior Citizens

Over 200 seniors were entertained and fed by a group of Pennsbury High School seniors.

Pennsbury High School's Interact student service group held a senior citizen holiday dinner on Friday at the Fairless Hills school. Seniors from the Falls Township Senior Center, Galilee Village, Macintosh Regency, Grundy Gardens, and LaMont Plaza will be the invited guests. High schoolers served and entertained their invited guest. The PHS Strings, PHS Dance Team, the Falconairs and the Chamber Choir performed. The Chamber Choir sang fresh off their gig at the White House. Breanne Cook is the faculty adviser and helped with Interact group plan the event. The group is in partnership with the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rotary.

Pennsbury Students Perform at White House

The 21-member Pennsbury Chamber Choir recently performed at the White House in Washington D.C.

At Thursday night's school board meeting, Pennsbury Superintendent Dr. Kevin McHugh announced that the Pennsbury Chamber Choir performed seasonal music at the White House in Washington D.C. The group, which is made of 21 students, performed for visitors in the Grand Foyer of the White House, according to the district. “This was a huge honor for us,” said K-12 Vocal Music Coordinator James Moyer. “Our students were thrilled to have this opportunity to sing in such a prestigious venue.” Moyer, the district said in a released, applied for the choir to perform at the White House in summer.
