Pennsbury Presents 'Anatomy of Gray'

High school students will perform the show Friday and Saturday nights.

The Pennsbury High School drama students are performing "Anatomy of Gray" Friday and Saturday evening. The play is set in the 1880s and "deals with loss, love, and healing in a unique, coming-of-age story," according to the district website. Tickets cost $5 at the door. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. at the Pennsbury High School West auditoruim.

Emergency Shelter Open in Bristol

The shelter was beginning to fill Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Cross is operating a no-pet shelter at the James A. Gallagher Senior Center located on the grounds of the Bristol Township Municipal Complex at 2501 Bath Road. As of 4 p.m., 35 people were using the shelter and more are expected, Emergency Operations Director Kevin Dippolito said. “Any residents feeling the need to go to the shelter are encouraged to do so,” Township Manager Bill McCauley said. Local residents who were without power came to the shelter throughout the day, Stacey Emery of Red Cross said. While the shelter has electricity, no shower facilities are avaiable at the building, Emery said. UPDATE: Emergency Shelter at Bensalem School Closed

The shelter was relocated from Pennsbury High School to Russell C. Struble Elementary School.

  The Lower Bucks County emergency shelter at Russell C. Struble Elementary School in Bensalem was closed today. It was moved to Bensalem from Pennsbury High School East Tuesday due to a power outage, Red Cross spokesman Dave Schrader said. Bensalem Asst. Public Safety Superintendent Pat Ponticelli told Patch the shelter was closed by the county at 2:25 p.m. He said the two remaining individuals in the shelter were homeless and officials were searching for suitable accomidations for them.

Emergency Shelter in Levittown Set for Hundreds

The shelter is located at Pennsbury High School East in Falls Township.

As the fury of Hurricane Sandy began raged on outside on Monday, about 20 people were in the Red Cross shelter located at Pennsbury High School East on Hood Boulevard in Falls. By Tuesday morning, hundreds could fill the backup powered school gymnasium, shelter manager Stacey Emery said. Red Cross volunteers had hundreds of cots available, she continued, and planned to continue setting them up into the evening. The shelter - one of three in the county - is pet friendly, Emery stressed. Food will be served for those displaced by the storm. The shelter also offers shower facilities. Those at the shelter trickled in throughout the day, Emery said. Many of the shelter’s occupants were evacuated from the Harbor Light Apartments in Bristol …

HS Football: Pennsbury Defeats Council Rock South

Council Rock South 7, Pennsbury 28

  After a skin infection among some of the Council Rock South football players delayed Friday night's game until Monday, both teams took to Falcon Field Monday night. By the end of the game, Pennsbury had full-heartedly defeated South's Golden Hawks by a score of 28 to 7. The win brings Pennsbury's season-to-date records to 3-2. The Falcons will next play Abington on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Saturday game is the homecoming game.

Pennsbury Board Hires Principal, Assistant Principal

Laurie Ruffing to lead Walt Disney Elementary; Lynne Blair an assistant at Pennsbury High

The Pennsbury Board of Education on Thursday approved the appointment of two new school leaders. The board approved the hiring of Laurie Ruffing as the principal of the Walt Disney Elementary School, with a salary of $126,935. Most recently an elementary school principal in the Morrisville School District since 2008, Ruffing earned a master’s degree in administration from the University of Scranton and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Penn State, according to a district press release. "Her skills and exceptional talents will blend well with our administrative team, and I have no doubt that the faculty and families of Walt Disney will enjoy getting to know her too," Superintendent Kevin McHugh said in the release. Families, faculty and friends gather at Falcon Field to congratulate class of 2012.

Pennsbury High School East Principal, Shawn Neely, opened the school's 64th annual commencement ceremony with a warm welcome to students, families, faculty, and staff on the evening of Monday, June 11th at Falcon Field. Student speakers included Senior Class President, Russell Kim, Ramya Gurunathan, and Andrew Walker.  Additional speakers included Allan Weisel, President of the Pennsbury Board of School Directors, District Superintendent, Dr. Kevin McHugh, and Lisa Becker, Principal of Pennsbury High School West. A total of 776 students graduated in the class of 2012.

Pennsbury School District Art Show Draws From Hundreds Of Pieces

Public invited to Pennsbury High School East campus for show's final night.

Thursday is the last day to check out hundreds of pieces of sample artwork from Pennsbury students in the district's 15 schools. The 2012 district-wide art show features paintings, sculpture, photography, ceramics, jewelry, stained glass, along with works in a variety of other media. Pennsbury Art Curriculum Coordinator Ruth Anne Schultz and all of the district's art teachers set up the display at 8 a.m. on Tuesday for the three-day event. In its final night, the public is invited to view the pieces from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pennsbury High School's East gymnasium.
