Levittown Student Wins $2K Scholarship

Truman Student rewarded for classroom excellence.

 

TMA Bucks (Transportation Management Association) announced June 8, that six Bucks County high school seniors who plan to pursue a course of post high school study in civil engineering, urban planning, transportation management or other related field have each been awarded scholarships from the TMA Bucks Scholarship Fund.

Sean Pousley of Pennridge High School, Alexander Ricci of William Tennent High School, Zachary Weed of Bucks County Technical High School, Nicolas Metzler of Central Bucks High School West, Dominick Dos of Roman Catholic High School and Samantha Nicoletti of Harry S Truman High School were all recognized at the 13th Annual Meeting of TMA Bucks at Parx Casino East on Friday.

Pousley, Ricci, Weed, Metzler and Dos received $1,000 scholarships while Nicoletti received the $2,000 Joseph V. DiGirolamo Scholarship which recognizes Bensalem mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, who was the founder of TMA Bucks and served 11 years as president of the board of directors.

“TMA Bucks is excited to provide these scholarships to talented students from Bucks County that demonstrate excellence in the class room and a strong commitment in community involvement,” said TMA Bucks executive director Bill Rickett in making the announcement. “Our organization is proud to contribute to the community in a positive way and thrilled to help open the doors of the future to these bright students.”

These scholarships are one-time awards to be paid directly to the college or other accredited secondary school the winning students will attend beginning in the fall of 2012. Additional scholarships will be given annually. The number of scholarships awarded depends upon donations received.

Funding for the TMA Bucks Scholarship Fund comes from the many area companies that participate in the TMA Bucks Foundation’s annual golf outing. The TMA Bucks Scholarship Fund is managed by The TMA Bucks Foundation, a registered 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization. Tax deductible donations to the fund may be sent in care of TMA Bucks Foundation, Seven Neshaminy Interplex, Suite 103, Trevose, PA 19053.
